To Kill a Mockingbird

To Kill a Mockingbird

March 12 - April 3

As the stage adaptation of an American classic, To Kill a Mockingbird is the portrait of a southern town, brimming with powerful lessons of tolerance, justice and quiet heroism. Scout and Jem are growing up in the Deep South during the 1930's depression. Their idyllic childhood is jolted with the realization that prejudice and bigotry rule in their small town. This gripping show is one that you will not want to miss.

Community News

By Proclamation of the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Pitman and in partnership with Broadway Theatre of Pitman, McCowan Memorial Library announces its regional reading initiative:

McCowan Connects: Community Connection for Greater Appreciation
With
To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee.

The Community Read will begin on November 1, 2009 and will culminate in The Broadway Theatre of Pitman's production of To Kill a Mockingbird on March 12 - April 3, 2010.

The purpose of this project is to encourage as many Pitmanites and area residents as possible to read the same book at the same time to promote discussion on a broad basis - ending with the Broadway Theatre's production.

Books can be purchased at the McCowan Memorial Library at $5.00. For each book purchased at the Library, a coupon for $5.00 off the admission of a ticket of To Kill a Mockingbird will be given.

For additional information, please call the Library at 856-589-1656.

What the Audience is saying:

“What a professional production! I could not have asked for more. I saw a cast that was not only talented, but they were well rehearsed. They sang beautifully, but most importantly, had an understanding of the genre. The show flowed, was funny, and took itself seriously enough to work. It was great!!”
